Dear Friend,
Does this sound familiar?
• You’ve got lots of great ideas for growing your business
but you can’t get to them because you’re working too many
hours doing the “busy work” in your business. While you
fix problems, chase down payments from clients, and deal with vendors,
the important business- building, marketing, and creative work just
doesn’t get done. You want to do it, you mean to do it, but you
just can’t find the time. And because of that, your business
is at a standstill. Opportunities are passing you by.
• You’ve created a successful business where you’ve “got
to” do everything. There’s “no way” you
could delegate any of the work — it “needs” to be
done by you. After all, your clients hired you, not someone else. You’ve
got very good excuses: It would take you longer to show someone else
how to do it than it does to just do it yourself, and no one else could
do it as well or as fast as you do, anyway. But there are only so many
hours in the day, and things are beginning to slip through the cracks.
• You know you need some help but you don’t
know how to go about getting it. It seems like a lot of trouble to find someone
to help, and you don’t know where to start. Where would you look?
What if you don’t like them? Your business is different — what
if they don’t under stand what you do? What if you’re not
good at delegating? It’s easier to keep doing it yourself, but
working all those evenings and weekends is beginning to take a toll.
Is it supposed to be this hard?
• You tried a virtual assistant but it “didn’t
work” for you. You tried a VA already. She didn’t understand
you, your business, or the way you work. So that’s that. It just
doesn’t work for your
business — but wouldn’t it be nice if it did?
• You’re afraid to hire a VA because it sounds expensive
and you don’t know what you’d give her to do anyway. Paying
someone to help with things you can do yourself goes against your grain — why
pay someone when you know how to do it? Besides, how would you know
what to give her and what you should keep doing yourself? That doesn’t
sound like a very good way to spend your money, but you are starting
to wonder if it’s the best way to spend your time.
Well, I’ve got great news for you -- you
are so in the right place right now! I can help you get to the important
things in your business, keep things from slipping through the cracks,
and stop working evenings and weekends! It all comes back to knowing
how to find, hire, and work with the perfect virtual assistant, one
that is the RIGHT FIT for you and your business.
My name is Marcia Hoeck, and helping entrepreneurs build businesses
that will run without them is what I do best. Working with the power
of teams, including creating strong relationships with virtual assistants,
is a BIG part of that.
I was stuck in the “busy-ness” of
my business, too.
When I started my marketing communications
firm over 25 years ago, it grew quickly, almost immediately. I was
overwhelmed by the amount of work I had to do, and referrals were coming
in all the time. After trying to do everything myself (including my
books and accounting, definitely not my strength — what a nightmare!)
I finally figured out that if I wanted to keep my company growing and
live up to the promises I’d made to clients, I had to get help.
So I just started hiring, without much of a plan.
And I made a LOT of mistakes. At first, I didn’t know what I
was doing! I had team members embarrass me in front of my clients,
steal from me, waste my time, and “poison the well” of
my good staff. I spent a great deal of time fixing their mistakes and
trying to understand them, to mold them into the type of people I needed.
Or I’d find a way to let them go and start over with a new person
who had a new and different problem. I was constantly frustrated, and
not able to get to my own work of growing the business.
What I didn’t realize then was that I hadn’t taken the
time to hire correctly in the first place — I should never have
hired many of these people. These mistakes helped me learn a LOT about
matching people to my philosophies and ways of working, and finding
the right “people-fit” for my business.
Then, I figured out my own system
Once I figured this
out, I got serious about why and how I was hiring people and how I
was working with them. I read all I could about it (which wasn’t
much — most of the team building information
is geared towards corporations and is told from an HR perspective,
and I needed information that understood me, as a very small business
owner!), I talked to everyone who could help me, and I thought carefully
about what was going wrong with the way I was working with the people
I’d hired. And slowly I developed my own system, which allowed
me to get out of the ongoing cycle of managing people and back to
what I’d started my business for in the first place. (Which
is where YOU want to be, too!)
In the last year of that business, I was able
to reduce the amount of time I spent in my business to about 30%,
while increasing my revenues by more than 60%. I now coach
entrepreneurs on my business growth and team building methods. It IS possible to
create a culture that works for you — spiritually, productively, and profitably — to
empower your team members (and that includes
your VA) and get problems
off YOUR desk, so you can get back to building your business.

“I was delighted when Marcia approached me about this wonderful
ebook idea of hers. I was hoping that her objective eye on the topic would
allow her to create something extremely useful for the client population — something
strong, and true, and focused on the aspects of working with VAs that clients
often don’t understand, or overlook in their hurry to move themselves
forward.
“A couple of weeks ago, Marcia handed me (virtually, of course)
a copy of Get More Done, Make More Money: The 5 Easy Steps to Find, Hire,
and Partner with a Virtual Assistant. I hungrily poured over each well-crafted
line, pleased to see that she did create an objective and definitive guide
for people who want to smartly work with VAs. And not only did she create
such a guide, she did it with style and humor. It’s almost exactly
the guide I would have written if Marcia hadn’t beaten me to the
punch! “

“Thanks
to your team communication system and focused understanding of work
styles, my team is working much more profitably than it was just 2 months
ago. My
partner Liz and I spend less time on managing and training, so we can be
free to grow the business.
You helped us all
get clear about our roles in the company, so bottlenecks
disappeared and the problems don’t all end up back on my desk!
No
more ‘baby sitting’ and now I can focus on profits.”

I’ve got over 30 hours of interviews
In fact,
I’ve been so interested in helping you benefit from
a great relationship with a VA that I spent 6 weeks this spring specifically
interviewing VAs, people who work with VAs (that means people like
YOU!), VA service providers, and leaders in the VA industry to find
out what THEY SAY are the best ways to find, hire, and work with virtual
assistants. I asked them about the successes they’ve had, and
the failures, too. I found out what can go wrong and what can go right,
so YOU don’t have to go through all that.
I added that to my 25 years of experience in
working with teams in small and entrepreneurial businesses, and I
ended up with A LOT of information for you — and some of it
is pretty SURPRISING!
I’ve got to tell you, there’s a lot
of CONFUSION out there.
Here are some of the things I learned by doing all those hours of
interviews:
• Not everyone thinks of virtual assistants
in the same way, even among the VAs themselves. And the definition of “virtual
assistant” is not well understood. When expectations are not
aligned, problems happen!
• While you may not have a clue where
to look, VAs are everywhere. There are many ways to find a VA, some better than others, and a RIGHT
way to find one that’s perfect for YOU.
• How you handle the initial interview
you have with your VA can make all the difference in the success
of your relationship.
• There are specific ways to make sure you’ve got the “magic
ingredients” for successful virtual
communication, the most important factor in a client/VA relationship.
• You CAN avoid the major frustrations clients have with working with VAs, and vice versa —
IF you know what to look for.
And guess what? Now YOU can take advantage of
what I’VE learned!
I’ve written it all down in an easy-to-digest 5-step process
called
“Get
More Done, Make More Money” eBook
PLUS 25 audio interviews with VAs, entrepreneurs who work with VAs,
VA service providers, and leaders in the VA industry
eBook
I promise you the book is everything I know about finding, hiring,
and working with a virtual assistant. And to make it EVEN BETTER,
I’ve included edited audio versions of every single interview
I did. Every one.
Digital audio recordings
The audios were originally intended to be just
for me, for research — but the information
I got from the people I interviewed was so
good, and their voices were so compelling, that
I knew I just had to find a way for you to hear exactly
what they told me. And boy, did I talk to some fabulous
people!
Original interviews not available anywhere else
These interviews are NOT available anywhere else! They’re powerful
opportunities for you to take a peek inside the thought processes of
both VAs and clients as they thoughtfully describe how they work together — the
good, the bad, AND the ugly! You’ll hear differing viewpoints
on work styles, job responsibilities, pay practices and guidelines
including pay scales and retainers, frustrations with each other and
how they work around it, misconceptions and misunderstandings and how
they diffuse them, and what they consider to be ideal relationships.
You’ll hear pioneers and leaders in the VA industry define the
original intent of the profession and how it’s changed over time.
They’ll give you their professional opinions on how
the client/VA relationship is supposed to work and how you’ll
benefit from taking the right approach.
You’ll hear from
• Stacy Brice, founder of AssistU, the first
organization to train, certify, and coach VAs,
• Danielle Keister, founder of the Virtual Assistant Chamber of Commerce,
• Kathie Thomas, founder of A Clayton’s
Secretary, the powerhouse VA Network in Australia,
• Tawnya Sutherland, founder of VANetworking and The Virtual Assistant
Social Network,
• Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero of RedHotCopy.com, well-known and much respected
copywriter,
• Naomi Dunford of IttyBiz.com, powerhouse marketer for tiny businesses,
• Richard Shapiro of KendallSummerHawk.com,
gifted coach and mentor,
and many other wonderful VAs and entrepreneurs at all ends of the spectrum,
each offering you their best advice from their own experience.
From both the ebook and audios, you’ll
learn that working with a virtual assistant is the BEST way to:
• Accomplish more in less time,
• Free up your
time to pursue the important,
income-producing activities of your business,
• Reduce administrative
hassles AND your
stress level, and
• Make more money WITHOUT working harder
or longer hours.
But there is a catch. Simply hiring any old VA
isn’t going to
get you the above results — and if you’ve worked with the
WRONG virtual assistant in the past, you already know this. Maybe you
had a VA you couldn’t talk to, you didn’t click with. Maybe
your last VA took forever to get things done. Or maybe you’ve
just heard the horror stories of client/VA relationships GONE BAD.
There’s definitely more to it than just hiring a VA — if
you don’t know the right way to do it, you can easily WASTE large
amounts of TIME and MONEY. It can be confusing, and it can be a big
struggle to get the help you really need.

“Get More Done, Make More Money is just what the online business
community has been needing. Marcia is the perfect person to “tell
it like it is” because of the combination of her success with in-person
teams and her research in and around the VA community. Speaking from the
VA’s perspective, her book clearly demonstrates that she’s
got her finger on the pulse of the VA industry and that anyone looking
to hire their perfect VA on the first try would do well to listen to her
advice.
“So many people (VA’s and business owners alike) think that
hiring a VA is a “one size fits all” solution for the over-worked
entrepreneur. But as Marcia skillfully explains, it’s more than a
skill match, and more than a personality match. It’s a combination
of the two that, when the right blend is found, can produce business magic.
If you’re looking for that magic, I highly recommend that you take
the time to read the book, complete the worksheets, and do the homework
that Marcia assigns. You won’t be sorry!

I came to Marcia really frustrated that
I always seemed to bring someone on that interviewed well but then was a
total disaster when it came to actually performing in their job.
Marcia took me through a series of steps to change the way I do interviews
that made a world of difference and stopped me from hiring the wrong person
again.
Marcia totally took the mystery out of hiring, firing, compensation, and
her bonus structure is genius! And just one of her tips made me $2000 in
less than 3 hours.
I would recommend that any entrepreneur who’s growing their business,
and wants to delegate tasks and work to someone else but keeps doing it
themselves because their contract workers and employees don’t work
out, hire Marcia to coach them to develop a strong team to support them.”

You didn’t have the whole picture before.
You
may have hired a VA in the past and had it not work out for you. Or
maybe your current VA relationship isn’t up to snuff. It’s
not your fault! You just didn’t have the whole picture before.
But now you can get the whole picture — you don’t have
to guess or go into it blind. Because I’ve distilled it all down
for you, and I’ll tell you EXACTLY what to do to get the BEST
results.
And because I’m an entrepreneur just like you are and have NO
affiliation with any VA service provider, directory, or association,
you know the information isn’t one-sided or skewed towards any
particular service or philosophy. I’m giving you the straight
scoop as I see it.
Whether you’re a newbie entrepreneur or a seasoned professional,
you’ll discover strategies and tips designed to help you accomplish
much more in your business while you free up your time and increase
your money flow.
• Easily sort through
the sea of conflicting information about
virtual assistants. You’ll know the truth straight from the horse’s
mouth (oh, yeah, there’s even a little horse joke in there).
• Avoid making time-wasting
rookie mistakes when searching for VAs and interviewing
candidates.
• Avoid the pain,
disappointment, and expense of hiring the WRONG VA for your business.
• Gain a clear understanding
about what kind of support you really need to keep your business
growing strong.
• Become a better
client (and boss, if
you also have employees).
• Establish supportive
relationships for
your business.
It’s VITAL that you get all the pieces of the puzzle, because
if you don’t, chances are you’re not going to really be
able to get more done, free up the time you need, or make more money — because
you won’t be able to get the right VA for you and your business.
In fact, it can actually cost you time and money.

“I wish I had known Marcia when I chose my last VA. I didn’t
know where to look, and frankly, I hired the first person I found. He sounded
good on paper, and promised he could do everything I needed.
But when it came right down to it, he didn’t take my work seriously
-- he only did it when he could get to it, and it took him forever! I later
found out he didn’t even have a computer and was doing spreadsheets
on his iPhone. I wasted months of time and lots of money on this guy and
trying to find a replacement for him. My stress level was sky high, as
I was juggling many balls in my business.
When I heard what Marcia was doing, I just knew
I had to tell my people about it. Marcia's advice took the guesswork
out of finding the right people for my team, I'll never be without her
advice again!”

“As a productivity coach,
I work with people every day that are overwhelmed with their work situation
and/or have difficulty letting go and delegating work. If you want to be
able to grow your business, one of the best ways is to leverage the talents
of others.
“Marcia’s book and corresponding interview audios do a fantastic
job of walking you through the steps necessary to create a great working
relationship with a virtual assistant. She does not give you an “all
rosy” picture of working with a VA either. In her book she shares
comments from those in the VA industry and from those that hire VAs. You
get a balanced understanding of the dos and don’ts.
“Throughout the book, she has provided workspace
for you to think through your specific situation and design the strategy
that works best for you. While I have been working with VAs for the past
three years, I gained quite a bit of insight and new ideas on ways to
enhance the relationships and activities I have in place.”

Here’s just a sampling of what you’ll
discover when you dig into this ebook and audio program:

Knowing that you need help is only the beginning. You
also need to know HOW to look for VAs and WHERE to look. The resources
in the ebook combined with the suggestions from the interviews will
give you a wealth of ideas, and you won’t have to waste any time
(some people spend MONTHS looking in the wrong places!) poking around
where good VAs aren’t.

It’s not a good idea to just go with the first
VA you find — but
it may have been so difficult for you to find her, that you want to
hire anyone with a pulse! So what should you look for? Listen to the
audios and take the advice of those who have been there — and
you’ll want to spend some time on this step. Remember, you’re
not just looking for any old VA, you’re looking for the best
VA for YOU, and for your business.

It’s really helpful if you have your intentions
thought out before you start talking to people. Are you clear about
what you need and how a VA can help you? Many entrepreneurs are not,
so don’t panic.
Check out the Services Offered and Forms & Resources sections of
the book for a better idea of what VAs can take off of your desk. Do
the income-producing activities exercise. And listen to the recordings
that come with the program, too. Doing this thinking and organizing
ahead of time will help to narrow your search and avoid wasted time.

The best client/VA relationships are just that: relationships.
And this relationship, just like any other relationship in your life,
will require a bit of attention and effort to build. Many entrepreneurs,
especially those most familiar with offline businesses, don’t
really know the best way to work with a virtual partner, and try to
relate with in-person cues. Even those who’ve worked online for
years will still need time “learning to dance” with their
new virtual assistant. The behind-the-scenes tips and hints included
in the book and audios are CRITICAL to a VA relationship that clicks
from the start. . . or flounders and dies.
Here’s what you get:
Digital Download eBook
First, you’ll get immediate access to a pdf download of my ebook, “Get
More Done, Make More Money: The 5 Easy Steps to Find, Hire, and
Partner with a Virtual Assistant.” The book will
walk you through, step-by-step, everything I’ve learned about
virtual assistants and how working with them can add value to your
business.
And don’t worry! It’s not a boring
textbook —
I don’t like to read them and I don’t like to
write them. It’s a fun, easy-to-read and easy-
to-follow walk down the path towards having
a great relationship with a wonderful partner for
your business. And it’s filled with exercises, checklists,
resources, lists, links, and everything you need to do this right!
Digital Download Audio MP3 Recordings
Second, you’ll get immediate access to all 25 interviews with
VAs, entrepreneurs who work with VAs, VA service providers, and leaders
in the VA industry. The interviews were edited down to the best of
what each person said, but I didn’t cut out anything meaty and
I didn’t change anyone’s message — the editing was
done for length, redundancy, and to cut out any chit chat (yes, I admit,
I did a bit of that!). These are powerful interviews, not sound bites,
and you’ll gain valuable insight into the working styles and
philosophies of everyone I spoke with. This collection is an undirected,
unscripted, unprecedented glimpse into the way people work — people
just like you and the VAs who work with them.
Digital for the ultimate flexibility
All you have to do is download, and all this valuable information will
appear immediately on your computer, now. No waiting for a product
to come in the mail. And because the products are digital, you have
ultimate flexibility — you can read the ebook on your computer,
or save it to a file and print it out. You can listen to the audio
recordings on your computer, load them to your iPod, or burn them
to a CD. You decide!
Plus,
you’ll receive
this free bonus!
Everyone, yes everyone, who orders “Get More
Done, Make More Money” will also receive my marketing ebook, “Marketing
